Phlebology at Academy of Cosmetology
Phlebology is a highly specialized field of medicine that deals with the comprehensive diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the venous system and blood vessels of the lower extremities. In modern medical practice, phlebology plays a key role in maintaining vascular health and patients' quality of life.
Most often, people consult a phlebologist (vascular surgeon) for varicose veins, the appearance of spider veins, a constant feeling of heaviness and fatigue in the legs, swelling of the lower legs and feet, nocturnal cramps, pain when walking, or visible enlarged veins. These symptoms may indicate impaired venous blood flow and require professional assessment.
Sclerotherapy — An Effective Solution for Vascular Problems
Sclerotherapy is a modern, minimally invasive procedure that helps effectively remove spider veins, telangiectasias, and small varicose veins without surgical intervention. The method is based on injecting a special sclerosing agent directly into the lumen of the vessel.
Using a thin needle, the doctor injects a special preparation (sclerosant) into the problematic vessel, causing the vein walls to "glue together" and gradually dissolve. Over time, the treated vessel becomes almost imperceptible, and blood flow naturally redistributes through healthy veins.
When is sclerotherapy most often recommended?
Spider Veins and Reticular Veins
Telangiectasias are dilated small red or bluish vessels that appear on the skin surface as characteristic patterns, webs, or stars, most often on the legs, thighs, or ankles.
Reticular Veins
Small dilated subcutaneous veins of blue-green color, 2-3 mm in diameter, which create visual discomfort and may be accompanied by a feeling of heaviness.
Aesthetic Discomfort
Local vascular manifestations that reduce self-confidence, prevent wearing open clothing, and cause psychological discomfort when exposing legs.
How the sclerotherapy procedure is performed
01
Preparation and Examination
The doctor conducts a visual examination of the problem areas, determines the scope of work, and draws up an individual treatment plan.
02
Area Treatment
The skin in the treatment area is disinfected with an antiseptic solution to ensure sterility.
03
Sclerosant Injection
Using a thin needle, the doctor precisely injects the preparation into the vessel lumen under control.
04
Compression
After the procedure, a compression material is applied to the treated area for optimal effect.
The procedure usually takes 20–40 minutes, depending on the treatment area and scope of work. The specific treatment plan and the necessary amount of sclerosant ampoules are determined individually by the doctor during the initial examination. In some clinical cases, a course of several consecutive visits at 2-4 week intervals is required to achieve an optimal result.
Recommendations after sclerotherapy
Compression Garments
The doctor will recommend wearing special compression stockings or socks for a certain period to improve results and accelerate healing.
Active Walking
Daily walking for 30-60 minutes is recommended to maintain normal blood circulation and prevent stagnation.
Temporary Restrictions
Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam baths, tanning beds, and intense physical activity for 2-4 weeks after the procedure.

Important: All recommendations are individual and clarified by the doctor during the appointment, taking into account the specifics of your case, the volume of the procedure performed, and your general health condition.
